Brief Background - I have lived in many countries over the past thirty years including Japan, Hong Kong, the USA, Australia Singapore and the UK. In each country, I studied drawing and painting with various art institutions and societies and held exhibitions together with local artists. When our family returned to England in 2004, I attended Putney School of Art and Design to continue life-drawing classes until we moved to Cambridge in 2014.
Despite a long-held passion for painting, my formal education is French literature (Ba. South Korea). I also obtained an M.Sc. in Library Science at Long Island University (USA). After working as an editor for a publishing company in New York, I moved to Japan where I wrote and had published a Japanese language book and translated two books from Japanese to Korean. While literature and language skills paid the bills, I was never too far away from drawing and painting.
I have used many different mediums including watercolour, pastel and charcoal. But along the way, I also discovered the unique beauty and depth of classical oil colours and I now paint exclusively with oils.
I am a member of the Cambridge Drawing Society and have also exhibitied and sold works at the Hertdord Art Society 2018 Annual Exhibition. This July will be my second Open Studio as part of the Cambridge Open Studios annual event.
