Brief Background - I have lived in many countries over the past thirty years including Japan, Hong Kong, the USA, Australia Singapore and the UK. In each country, I studied drawing and painting with various art institutions and societies and held exhibitions together with local artists. When our family returned to England in 2004, I attended Putney School of Art and Design to continue life-drawing classes until we moved to Cambridge in 2014.
Despite a long-held passion for painting, my formal education is French literature (Ba. South Korea). I also obtained an M.Sc. in Library Science at Long Island University (USA). After working as an editor for a publishing company in New York, I moved to Japan where I wrote and had published a Japanese language book and translated two books from Japanese to Korean. While literature and language skills paid the bills, I was never too far away from drawing and painting.
I have used many different mediums including watercolour, pastel and charcoal, and pencil. But along the way, I also discovered the unique beauty and depth of classical oil colours and I now paint exclusively with oils.
I am a member of the Cambridge Drawing Society and have also exhibited and sold works at the Hertford Art Society 2018 Annual Exhibition. I also open my studio to the public as part of the Cambrige Open Studios annual event.
